Glenbow Museum's extensive collection of art, artefacts, archival materials and published works document the history and culture of Western Canada. The museum collection includes artefacts that tell the fascinating story of Aboriginal people, frontier exploration, and the development of western life. Objects from cultures around the world, and a collection of gems and minerals are also part of this diverse collection. The art collection focuses primarily on north-western North America. It features works in all media from the 19th century to the present. Its strengths are prints and drawings, Western art, and extensive individual collections of many important local artists. The Archives has extensive holdings of unpublished documents and photographs related to the history of Western Canada, as the library that includes books, pamphlets, magazines and maps of the history of southern Alberta.
