Cynthia Sah


Cynthia Sah grew up in Japan and Taiwan. After completing her studies and graduating from Bard College, Annandale-on-Hudson, New York, she earned an M.A. in Teaching, Columbia University, New York. Her birth name is Charn Yu Sah, but her western name after moving to New York is Cynthia Sah. She arrived in Versilia for the first time in 1978, where she still lives today, and began working as assistant in Sem Ghelardini’s studio. She was one of the founders of the Associazione ASART of Pietrasanta, co-founder with Nicolas Bertoux of Studio Artco and Fondazione Arkad of Seravezza, and associated member of the Royal British Society of Sculptors.

She has held several international solo exhibitions, including: Saint Bartholomew Church, New York 1978; Galleria Bottega d'Arte, Voghera 1985-1988; Hong Kong: The Rotonda, Exchange Square 1992, Hanart T.Z. She exhibited her works for the first time in Italy in 1980 during a group exhibition in Carrara, the city where she had participated in the "Scolpire all'Aperto" symposium the year before. She has also created her works at the Giorgio Angeli, Bottega Versiliese, F.lli e Paolo Nello Galeotti, Silverio Paoli, Studio Sem, F.lli Cacciatori, and Marble Studio Stagetti laboratories and at the Da Prato, Del Chiaro, L'Arte, Mariani and Tesconi foundries. Currently she works at the Studio Artco in Seravezza which she owns together with her husband and sculptor Nicolas Bertoux.
