Villiano Tarabella

Biography

Born in a family of stoneboat operators, Viliano Tarabella learnt the art of sculpting at the age of thirteen in the laboratory of his friend, the intellectual Alessandrini, in Querceta; Enzo Nenci also apprenticed here. He continued to study in the workshops of Versilia. In 1957 he moved to Paris, where he met Dideron and Jean Arp with whom he worked until 1966. In 1960 he opened his study in "La Ruche". In 1965 he took part in the first of many editions of the Salon de la Jeune Sculpture in Paris. In 1972, he won the competition for the creation of a work for the clinic of Dr. Sobleman and Dr. Blanc-Mesnil and in the same year he held his first solo exhibition at Galeria Kriegel. In 1985, the Musée d'Art Moderne de le Ville de Paris purchased three works of his and in 1991 he received the Prix Fondation Florence Gould during the Prix International d'Art Contemporain de Montecarlo. He lives in Paris and travels to Versilia to create his large works at the Giorgio Angeli, Marco Giannoni and Studio Sem laboratories and at the Tesconi and Tommasi foundries.
