Dini Marmi distinguishes itself for its long-standing history in marble processing in the heart of the Garfagnana area. In 1857 Giovan Battista Dini and a man named Bertucci were called to Pontecosi, Ghivizzano, as stone cutters to shape the corner stones of the steeple that was being re-built. Once the job was finished, they decided to stay in  Ghivizzano where they met their respective future brides. Giovan Battista fathered seven children, among whom Luigi and Giovanni. In 1888, these two brothers, experts in their father's trade, founded today's company. Giovanni emigrated to the United States, and Luigi remained as head of the company. The factory grew thanks to his son Argante who called in a valid craftsman, Guiscardo Giannoni, from  Pietrasanta. After the end of WWII, the company was taken over by his son Luigi, born in 1909 and in 1960 by Pier Luigi. Today, the company is renowned for its production of internal furnishings (fireplaces, staircases, kitchen counter tops, bathroom vanity tops, tables) and external furnishings (cemetery chapels, headstones, colombariums).
