In 1975 Gino Lucarini, a.k.a. “Ascanio”, a great craftsman in the artistic production of metals, along with his two partners, Mauro Garbati and Massimo Grossi, founded the Fonderia Artistica Versiliese. After his demise in 1998, his three sons, Franco, Tiberio and Gabriele took over the foundry.

In 1985 the wax casting department was moved to Via Martiri di S. Anna, while the moulding and finishing department remained in Via del Castagno. The foundry produces works in bronze and German silver, coated and polished, carried out using “Lost Wax” casting. Moulds made of silicon, gelatin and plaster are created from models in clay, terracotta, plaster, wood and other materials, and sculptures of various types – modern, sacred and classical – are then produced.

Well-known artists such as Fernando Botero, Giò Pomodoro, Alicia Penalba, Julio Larraz, Sandro Chia, Emma De Sigaldi, Arana, Alessandro Romano, Sasha Sosno, Anna and Patrick Poirier, Riccardo Dalla Lasta have sought and still use the competence and expertise of the masters of the Fonderia Artistica Versiliese.
