Michele Benvenuti was born in Milan in 1953. After obtaining his diploma from the Liceo Classico, he went on to graduate from the Faculty of Literature and Art History at the University of Pisa. From 1985 to 1995 he worked for the Superintendency Departments of Pisa, Florence, Genoa, Lucca, Salerno and Avellino; he collaborated with the Center of Advanced Studies at the National Gallery in Washington; he was responsible for restoration works of the great 16th century wooden model of St. Peter's Basilica by G. da Sangallo il Giovane. From 2002 to 2010 he was responsible for the wooden restoration sector and for foreign relations for the "Il Restauro" Consortium; he worked in Florence (restoration of Villa Favard), in Fiesole (Villa Aurora) and in Carrara (restoration of 19th century graffiti at Studio Nicoli).
